2024 Semi Finals Format

As we head into the Last half of the season for 2024. Here is the structure that is used for Semi Final games for 2024. Semi Finals will be played on the 31st of August 2024 at various venues across Canberra. The Grand Finals will be played over Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of September 2024 at Viking Park in Erindale.

Under 8’s – Will play 13 rounds of competition. No finals for this age group, Round 13 will be played on August 31st

Under 9’s – Will play 13 rounds of competition. No finals for this age group, Round 13 will be played on August 31st

 

For Semi Finals – teams in Under 10 to Under 16s are ranked from highest to lowest from Division 1 (Pool A or Black or Black/Gold) then Division 2 (Pool B or Gold or Gold/Green) then Division 3 (Pool C or Green) and selected into divisional semi finals

Teams ranked 1-4 play for Div 1 Finals (unless fewer than 4 teams compete in the highest pool/division from round 8 – 12)

Teams ranked 5-8 play for Div 2 Finals (provided there are 8 or more teams in age grade)

Teams ranked 9-12 play for Div 3 Finals (provided there are 12 or more teams in age grade)

Under 10’s

  • have more than 12 teams in the competition and will create 3 divisions for finals. Following example above

Under 11’s

  • have more than 12 teams in the competition and will create 3 divisions for finals following example above.

Under 12’s

  • have more than 12 teams in the competition and will create 3 divisions for finals following example above.

Under 13 Boy’s

  • 3 Teams only opting to play in highest pool/Division. Highest ranked team of these 3 will go through to Grand Final Division 1.Teams ranked 2 and 3 to play Division 1 semifinal. These 3 teams will play within the Under 14 Pool B competition for rounds 8 – 12
  • Remaining 10 teams will be ranked with the highest 4 of these playing in Division 2 semi finals and next 4 ranked teams playing Division 3 semi finals ( 2 teams from pool c will miss out on finals)
  • Semi Finals example:
  • Semi Final 1, Division 1 – Team B Vs Team C
  • Semi Final 1, Division 2 – Team D Vs Team G
  • Semi Final 2, Division 2 – Team E Vs Team F
  • Semi Final 1, Division 3 – Team H Vs Team K
  • Semi Final 2, Division 3 – Team I Vs Team J

Under 14 Boy’s

  • Under 13 Boys teams playing in this competition will not qualify for Under 14 Finals.
  • 2 Teams only opting to play in highest pool/Division. Both these teams will progress straight through to Division 1 Grand Final. These 2 teams will play in the Under 15 competition for rounds 8 -12
  • Remaining teams will be ranked with the highest 4 of these playing in Division 2 semi finals and next 4 ranked teams playing Division 3 semi finals (2 teams from pool c will miss out on finals)

  • Semi Final 1, Division 2 – Team C Vs Team F
  • Semi Final 2, Division 2 – Team D Vs Team E
  • Semi Final 1, Division 3 – Team G Vs Team J
  • Semi Final 2, Division 3 – Team H Vs Team I

Under 14 Girls

  • Only 1 division for finals
  • Semi Final 1 – Team A Vs Team D
  • Semi Final 2 – Team B Vs Team C

Under 15 Boy’s

  • Under 14 Boys team playing in this competition will not qualify for Under 15 Finals
  • 12 teams or more in competition and will have 3 Divisions in finals as per example 1

 

Under 16 Boy’s

  • With only 9 Teams in this competition it will split into two divisions for semi finals. Teams ranked 1-8 will participate in Division 1 or Division 2 semi finals.

Under 16 Girls

  • Only 1 division for finals
  • Semi Final 1 – Team A Vs Team D
  • Semi Final 2 – Team B Vs Team C

Under 18 Girls

  • Only 1 division for finals
  • Semi Final 1 – Team A Vs Team D
  • Semi Final 2 – Team B Vs Team C

 

U18 Boys Division 1

  • Top 4 teams qualify for finals

  • Top 4 teams qualify for finals
