Representative Coaches
The ACTJRU Executive Committee and the Representative Coordinator are responsible for the appointment of a suitable qualified Coach or Coaches for each representative age group team.
The ACTJRU Executive Committee and the Representative Coordinator are responsible for the appointment of a suitable qualified Coach or Coaches for each representative age group team.
For a person to be appointed as Coach of a ACTJRU Representative Team that person:
- Must hold the appropriate coaching qualifications being a minimum of Level 1 Coaching Certificate to qualify to coach Under 12s to Under 14s and a Level 2 Coaching Certificate to qualify to coach Under 15s and Under 16s.
- Must commit without reservation to giving priority to developing the skills of the individual players in context of coaching the team by reference to age appropriate Skills Sets.
- Must be available to:
- Attend all “Coach the Coaches” sessions conducted by the ACTJRU and the Brumbies.
- Attend to view prospective player’s trialling for representative team selection where available at club trial games and, as a minimum, at the ACTJRU Trials and Representative Selection Day.
- Attend as may as possible ACTJRU Competition games for each of the highest graded teams from each ACTJRU clubs/schools.
- Must be approved by the ACTJRU Committee following recommendation from the ACTJRU Representative Coordinator.
- Must complete and submit the relevant declarations in respect of “Working with Vulnerable Children”.
- Must abide by the ACT Junior Rugby Union Code of Conduct and associated Rules and Procedures.
Where practicable, a Coach shall not be the parent or guardian of a player trialling for selection or selected in the same Representative Team to which that Coach nominates for appointment. Additionally, where practicable a Coach will not be coaching an ACTJRU Club/School in the same age group.
